6 Months Down and 6 to Go!

At the beginning of the year you created a robust set of goals to accomplish during 2014. Now that the end of June is here, it’s time to evaluate your progress to see if you’re still on the right track or if adjustments need to be made.

How to Assess Your Annual Strategy

Taking the time to stop and analyze the progress you’ve made toward accomplishing your annual goals is a must-do at the mid-point in the year. Now is the time to determine if you’re on the right track or if some serious adjustments need to be made:

  • Evaluate Your Progress: Have you done a good job of sticking to the plan or has it taken a backseat to other priorities? If you’re exactly where you hoped to be at the end of the second quarter ─ congratulations! For those with less-than-stellar results, now is the time to create a new plan to get back on track.
  • Reflect on Roadblocks: If you’re not quite where you wanted to be by this time of the year, think about what is standing in your way. Find a way to overcome roadblocks so they can no longer hinder your performance.
  • Gather Feedback: Strategize with your team to polish your plan for the second half of the year. Ask for feedback on strategies that worked and for ideas to improve tactics that weren’t as unsuccessful.
  • Review Your Objectives: Do the goals you set in January still make sense for the current state of your company? The business environment changes rapidly, so if the objectives you set at the beginning of the year no longer make sense, that’s okay. Simply take this time to create a new set of goals to achieve during the second half of the year.

Taking the time to review your goals to make sure you’re where you want to be heading into the second half of the year is essential to meeting your annual objectives. Whether you’re praising your team for an amazing first six months of the year or working together to improve lagging performance, regrouping now will definitely pay off at the end of the year.
