Be More Productive by Managing Energy, Not Time.

Right now, you’re leaving the office each day feeling like you could’ve accomplished more. Planning your day accordingly isn’t the issue, as you have exceptional time management skills, but you find it hard to keep your energy levels up all day.

Knowing how to manage your time is crucial, but that alone won’t boost your productivity levels. The secret to accomplishing more each day is knowing how to use your energy levels to your advantage. Find out how to sync your day to your body clock.

Figure Out When You’re Most Productive

You might already know your peak productivity hours, but if not, it’s time to identify them. Over the course of a week or two, keep a chart that tracks your most and least productive points of the day. This is your body’s natural energy cycle, so you might not be able to change it, but you can work with it. Knowing your most and least productive times of day will allow you to plan accordingly.

Block Off Peak Productivity Times

After identifying your most productive hours of the day, it’s time to maximize them. If possible, block these times off on your calendar, so you can focus on work uninterrupted. Accomplish as much as possible by saving your most challenging and important tasks for these valuable hours. Both the quality and volume of your work will increase by simply timing it right.

Save Meetings for Low-Energy Periods

Most meetings don’t require a ton of energy, so there’s no need to waste your most productive hours in a conference room. Schedule meetings during your low-energy periods and push back — when possible — if you’re invited to a meeting during your peak hours. This simple act can mean the difference between completing everything on your to-do list during normal work hours or having to stay late, because you can’t do your best work without adequate energy.
